Admissions

Hillcrest is a mixed 11-16 Dudley Local Authority comprehensive community school with over 1000 pupils. The school’s admission policy is in accordance with the guidelines below which have been set down by the Local Authority.

All preferences for secondary schools within Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council will be assessed against the priorities below (regardless of ranking). Wherever possible we will seek to allocate a place at the school of the parents’ or carers’ highest ranking (if the child meets the admission criteria for more than one school listed as a preference).

Priority for admission shall be given to "children who are looked after", children with a "serious and ongoing medical condition" where the preferred school is the most appropriate school to meet the condition, or children with a statement of educational needs.

For serious and ongoing medical conditions parents or carers must provide supportive information from the child’s hospital consultant at the time of application in order to be considered under this criteria.

This supportive information should include information about the needs of the child. Parents or carers should indicate why the preferred school is the most appropriate to meet their child’s medical condition rather than any other school. The Local Authority will not seek to obtain medical evidence on behalf of parents or carers. Priority for admission shall then be given to children who have a brother/sister, half brother/sister (where the children share one common parent), or step-brother/step-sister, living at the same address and who will still be attending the preferred school in September 2015.

Any places that remain available once the above applicants have been admitted, will be filled according to those children who live closest to the school, determined by a straight-line measurement in metres, from the home address to the main entrance of the school.

Hillcrest School’s admission limit for Year 7 is currently 210 pupils.
